This Privacy Policy describes how HandBook (the "App") collects, uses, and discloses your information when you use our mobile application and the services it provides. By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. Use of the App is governed by our Terms of Service.

  • Usage Data: We may also collect information about how the App is accessed and used. This Usage Data may include information such as your device's Internet Protocol address (e.g., IP address), device type, operating system, unique device identifiers, and other diagnostic data.

  • Content Information: If you use the App to store or create content, such as notes, documents, or other files, this content may be collected and stored by us.

How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information for various purposes, including to:

  • Provide and maintain the App

  • Notify you about changes to our App

  • Allow you to participate in interactive features of our App when you choose to do so

  • Provide customer support

  • Monitor the usage of the App

  • Photos uploaded by the user are stored and displayed within the App

  • Camera is only used when the user uploads or takes photos

Security of Your Information

The security of your Personal Information is important to us, but remember that no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your Personal Information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

User Rights & Choices

You have certain rights and choices regarding your personal information and how it is used within the App.

  • Access and Update Your Information: You may review, update, or correct your account information at any time by logging into your account and editing your profile settings.

  • Account Deletion: You may request deletion of your account at any time. When your account is deleted, we will delete or anonymize your personal information, except where we are required to retain certain information for legal, security, or operational purposes.

  • Content You Share: You may delete content you have posted in the App, such as photos, comments, nail color collections, or other user-generated content, through the App’s features. Please note that some content may remain visible if it has been shared with others or is required for legitimate business or legal purposes.

  • Communications Preferences: You may opt out of receiving non-essential communications, such as promotional emails, by following the unsubscribe instructions included in those messages. You will continue to receive essential service-related communications, such as security alerts, privacy policy updates, or account notifications.

  • Push Notifications: You may enable or disable push notifications at any time through your device settings.

  • Data Requests: Depending on your location, you may have the right to request access to, deletion of, or a copy of the personal information we hold about you. To make such a request, please contact us using the information provided in the “Contact Us” section below.

  • Location Information: If the App requests access to your device’s location, you may allow or deny such access through your device settings. What we collect:  When you use HandBook, we collect your device’s location information to help you discover other HandBook members in your area. This includes precise GPS coordinates collected when you visit the social section of the app. We also convert this information into general location data such as your city and state.  We do not collect your location while the app is closed or running in the background.  How we use it: We use your location information to: show you HandBook members near you, improve our people discovery features, understand which regions our community is growing in, improve app features and user experience.  We may share aggregated, anonymized location trends with business partners, but this information cannot be used to identify you individually.  We retain location data as follows: Your current location is stored on your profile until you delete your account, detailed location history is retained for no more than 90 days, City and state level activity data is retained for up to 12 months.  Anonymized, aggregated location trends may be retained indefinitely as they contain no personal information  You can disable location access at any time in your device settings. You may request deletion of your location history at any time by contacting us. 

We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your privacy rights.

Third-Party Services, Analytics, and External Links

To provide a seamless experience and improve app performance, HandBook integrates with various third-party service providers. These services help us monitor app health, analyze user engagement, and facilitate product discovery.

Service Providers and Analytics

We utilize third-party tools to monitor and analyze the use of our App. These services may collect information sent by your device (such as IP addresses, device identifiers, and crash logs) to help us identify technical errors and understand how users interact with our features. These tools are essential for maintaining app stability and optimizing the user interface.

Affiliate Marketing and Commercial Links

Our App may contain links to third-party websites and products, including affiliate marketing links. If you click on a link to a nail polish or beauty product, you may be directed to an external merchant site.

  • Affiliate Disclosure: We may receive a commission for purchases made through these external links. This does not result in any additional cost to you.

  • Third-Party Responsibility: These external sites are not operated by us. We have no control over, and assume no responsibility for, the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites or services.

User Due Diligence

We strongly advise you to review the Privacy Policy of every external website or service you visit via HandBook. Your interactions with these third-party features are governed by the privacy policies of the companies providing them.

Children’s Privacy and Age Restrictions

HandBook is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 13 ("Children"). We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13.

  • Regional Requirements: In jurisdictions where the age of consent for data processing is higher than 13, we comply with the local age requirements.

  • Data Deletion Policy: If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal data, please contact us. If we discover that we have collected personal data from a child under the age of 13 (or the applicable legal age in their region) without verification of parental consent, we will take immediate steps to remove that information from our servers.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. We will let you know via email and/or a prominent notice on our App, prior to the change becoming effective and update the "effective date" at the bottom of this Privacy Policy. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Changes to this Privacy Policy are effective when they are posted on this page.
